When I was twenty five years old our son was born with complications and we were immediately told he needed a spinal tap because he could have brain damage, meningitis or die.  During those three days waiting for the results I surrendered my stubborn will to the lordship of Jesus Christ.  Before that time,  I didn’t attend Church or have a relationship with God.  As I began to grow in his grace, God called me into his service. Souls, discipleship, and feed my sheep were his words to me.  In 1998 I entered a public ministry of teaching His Word and serving His people. In 2003 I was ordained a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  At that time I knew God had called me to Pastor,  I just didn’t know the Geographic location. So I continue to serve where I was planted. I also served as a full time staff pastor in Cherry Hill, NJ. While on a trip to Charlotte, God began to speak to me about the pastoral call He spoke to my heart many years earlier. Kijifa and I then agreed to move our five children to the Charlotte area.  In August of 2013 we moved from New Jersey to Concord, North Carolina to plant a Church. Within a year of moving my mother passed away and my wife had a Brain Aneurysm.  We came to plant a church, but life gave us some ingredients that were distasteful and difficult to handle. We started to lose hope, became discouraged and often questioned if we made the right decision. In this season we learned that His strength is made perfect in our weakness, His grace is sufficient and being a part of a community makes all the difference.

As we continued to encourage ourselves in the Lord, we received continual support from our community. We pressed out to a conference where we met another church planter who invited us to become a part of his church plant while we journeyed into the Call God had for our lives. Those difficult ingredients and challenging times gave clarity to the call of God.
